The best beaches in Algarve have nothing to envy to other places with paradisiacal beaches. In fact, some beaches in the Algarve consistently appear in the rankings of the most beautiful beaches not only in Europe, but in the world. You will find more than 100 beaches throughout the Algarve. It is clear that it is impossible to know them all, but in this post we will tell you the 5 best beaches in Algarve.
Praia de Albandeira
Praia de Albandeira is beautiful, one of our favorites in the Algarve. It is small and hidden, which makes it little visited by tourists. It is between Carvoeiro (Lagoa) and Armaçao de Pera beach, in a small rocky cove that is part of the Vale de Engenhos village. The beach is protected by rocks, in fact the sand is divided by them, and the calm water is perfect for swimming.
The main icon and reason to visit this beach is the Arch of Albandeira. It seems incredible that nature has been able to create this beautiful natural arch. The views from the top are beautiful, so we advise you to walk a bit before going down the stairs to take some good photos.
Praia da Rocha
Porches is a small town near the coast in the municipality of Lagoa in the Algarve. It's renowned for its traditional pottery, wine and singular architecture. Praia da Rocha is one of the most beautiful and visited beaches in the Algarve.
It is located on the coast of Portimão. Located right next to the mouth of the Arade River and the Portimão Marina.
Within walking distance are other beaches that are worth a visit: Praia dos Careanos, Praia do Vau and Praia do Barranco das Canas.
Praia Dos Três Irmãos
This beach is not as well known as the previous ones but it is very worth it. It is a cove surrounded by rocks and caves that connect with other coves. The greenish color of the water makes it a spectacular beach. It is also quite quiet because it is sheltered by the rocks.
The beautiful beach of "Tres Hermanos" gets its name from the rock formations that shape its shore. It is located next to the Alvor beach, which is clearer and Três Irmãos is more protected from the wind due to the large rocks.
Praia da Luz
The beach has soft golden sand, it is ideal for talking and walking along the coast or lounging in the sun. The water is cold but it is more than comfortable. On a nice hot day, the water will be perfectly cool.
Praia da Luz is often busy in the summer but at the eastern end of the beach, near Rocha Negra, it is less crowded and you can often find a piece of sand to call your own. At the western end of the beach there is a small rocky area that contains a cove. Inside the cove, you will find a small beach called Prainha. This beach is usually nice and peaceful, its waters are calm and crystal clear.
Praia do Camilo
Lagos has so many beautiful beaches that it is impossible to tire of them. Praia do Camilo is another one that you cannot miss. It is on the way to Ponta da Piedade and has really beautiful waters. Of course, it is a fairly small cove and is usually full of people but that does not mean that it is one of the best beaches in the Algarve.
To access they must go down some long stairs, so it is not recommended for people with mobility problems.
Praia da Marinha
Marinha Beach is bordered by marvelous orange-yellow limestone cliffs with an incredible variety of rock formations, it has fine golden sand and crystal blue water.
Protected against the winds by the surrounding cliffs and with calm waters, this secluded beach is perfect for families with children and those seeking tranquility while in the Algarve.
Praia da Marinha, like some of the most famous beaches in Lagos, becomes very different and narrower at high tide.
