Located beneath the iconic Viadukt in Zurich, Viadukt Restaurant offers a charming culinary haven that pleasantly surprised us during our Sunday lunch visit. The picturesque ambiance, adorned with vibrant umbrellas and chairs, set the mood for a delightful dining experience that awaited us.

Having heard about their commitment to fresh, sustainable, regional, and organic ingredients, we were excited to explore their offerings. I opted for the Beef Steak with Sweet Potato Wedges, Green Beans, and Herb Butter, a hearty dish that was priced at CHF 33.

The steak was perfectly cooked to my liking, boasting a rich flavor that hinted at its high-quality sourcing. The accompanying sweet potato wedges were crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, and the herb butter added a burst of flavor. In my perspective, the portion size seemed modest, consisting of merely three sweet potato wedges and approximately 150 grams of meat.

My friends had equally satisfying choices. One opted for the Tagliatelle Alfredo with Peterli-Herb Salad for CHF 23.00. The creamy, indulgent Alfredo sauce perfectly coated the al dente pasta, and the fresh herb salad on the side provided a balanced and refreshing accompaniment. Another friend enjoyed the Eggs Benedict for CHF 22.00, which was expertly executed, with poached eggs that oozed perfection and a velvety hollandaise sauce that elevated the dish.

Beyond the scrumptious food, Viadukt Restaurant has much more to offer. The location itself is a gem, tucked away in the listed viaduct arches, and the colorful umbrellas and chairs create an inviting and lively atmosphere. The option to dine either indoors or in the garden with a view of the Josefwiese adds an extra layer of allure.

The restaurant's commitment to quality and sustainability shines through in their sourcing practices. The emphasis on fresh and locally sourced ingredients, including their own vegetables from a nearby field in Seegräben, is commendable. Knowing that their meat hails from Switzerland adds to the assurance of responsible sourcing.

The variety in their menus is impressive, with lunch offerings that include three menus and a weekly special, complete with soup and salad. Their dinner menu, which changes seasonally, promises refined and creative dishes. Moreover, their flexibility in serving breakfast until 5 p.m. ensures that early risers and late brunch enthusiasts alike can enjoy a delicious start to the day.

Viadukt Restaurant's blend of culinary excellence, inviting atmosphere, and dedication to quality make it a standout choice for a memorable meal in Zurich. Whether you're a visitor or a local, this restaurant offers a delectable journey through Swiss flavors in a setting that's as charming as it is tasty.
